Rob visits Barnsley’s drummers.

I really enjoyed visiting Barnsley and performing a workshop and masterclass for many up and coming drummers in the area. It was a great trip and I met so many enthusiastic young drummers who all played so well!

Local drum tutors Keith Ramskill and Bob Wynne were there with their pupils and helped make the evening such a great success. Alex Francis at Barnsley Music Hub arranged the evening with Keith and I can’t wait to travel back up and play for all those guys again…Keep on drumming guys and good luck!

I had a great time at the Swan Theatre in Yeovil last week and a BIG thank you to all who came along. It was a great crowd and we got into some really interesting drumming stuff, a real pleasure for me to perform and chat to such an awesome crowd.

Ryan and Nick at Drum Dog were awesome hosts and everyone at the theatre was superb and made my stay very enjoyable. Ryan and his partner Kelly were ace and the ghost of the theatre, Annie, didn’t cause any mischief or strife during our performances….Phew!!

I look forward to returning again and please contact me if any of you who attended would like the PDF’s of the exercises that I was talking about.

Drum Dog presents Robert Brian Drum Clinic

Drum Dog & Waterloo music in Yeovil are putting on a clinic with me on Monday September the 23rd at The Sawn Theatre in Yeovil.

I will be demonstrating new and fresh ideas from my next educational package ‘Technique & Musicality’ Volume II, and there will be a Q&A and plenty of opportunities to learn and take away plenty of new and useable drumming material. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, I guarantee there will be lots to check out!

There will also be some give aways as well from Hardcase, Remo, Cympad, DW and others. So bring along some good questions and you can win yourself some top drumming goodies!

It’ll be a great night of playing drums, talking drums, trying out drums and simply living drums!!

See you there, it’s not to be missed!

Foot Ostinato – Lesson two from the DrumChannel!

DrumChannel have started releasing my drum lessons that I filmed for them at their Oxnard California studios back in 20-something! 🙂

This was lesson #2 and the first left foot ostinato pattern that I learned. I used it a lot in my practice and drum clinics and I now have several that are far more complex and hopefully highly musical too.

Anyway, this was my first and it’s cute watching it again after all these years, I hope you enjoy it!

DrumChannel lessons are now on YouTube!

I am happy to say that the great bod’s at DrumChannel are now sharing my lessons on their YouTube channel. I visited the DrumChannel in 2010 and had a great time hanging out with Don Lombardi, we had some great meals and lots of chats about the mighty Buddy Rich too. I am proud to say that Don still talks about this 3 bar warm up and uses it when he teaches!

They filmed 3 lessons whilst I was there as well as having an hour long show about me and my career  hosted by the great Curt Bisquera.

Palace Drum Clinic – Redditch.

BIG thanks to all who came along on Friday night to my Palace Drum Clinic in Redditch. It was a great night and we had a room full of eager drummers all up for a full on evening of drumming!! Thanks go to Matthew Green for organising the event and also for playing a great first set. The ace Craig Fenney from Cympad International was there promoting their great products and Mr. Phillip Beazer was on hand helping with the drum set up, and providing awesome company throughout the day. I look forward to returning to the Palace Drum Club again at some point, it’s a great vibe and provides drummers with a valuable learning experience. I hope to return there again at some point and I look forward to it!

Here are some clips from my performance:

Birmingham Drum Fair!

This slideshow has no images set to it.
Rob totally enjoyed his clinic at the UK NDF this year!

He was joined by the amazing Hammond organ/keyboard player John-paul Gard and they performed a 4 song set.

Each track highlighted a style and drummer that has influenced Robs drumming and creativity.

Check this link to watch Robs tribute to the late great Tony Williams, the track was written by JPG and is called ‘Smooth Williams’
