A nice little restaurant Jazz gig with Graham Dent – Piano, Ralf Dorrell – Bass, playing a mix of Jazz standards and original tunes etc. It’s always a great gig and I really enjoy the challenge of making the tunes come to life using just brushes, mallets and so on. The restaurant is usually packed and it has a strong following from the local Jazz fans in the area.
This will be the first of many local gigs at The Bell in Bath for The Littlemen…..Hopefully!
I am looking forward to playing there with The Littlemen, it’ll be a fab gig.
I am really looking forward to this drum clinic at The Palace Theatre in Redditch, it’ll be awesome to work again with Matthew Green and perform for the great group of drummers he has attending these events. I met Matt a few years ago at the Vintage Drum Show where I performed a tribute to Ringo Starr and did a drum masterclass and it’ll be great to work alongside him.
I’ll be talking about life as a session musician and showing you some useful tips that will improve your experience working in the studio. I have been working in that environment for the past 30 years and worked with some really great artists and producers/engineers, and I have picked up a lot of information from not just behind the drum set, but also from out front and what goes on all around it!
The great Matthew Green will be playing for you in the first half of the show and he is a fine drummer with some top tips to share with you. So, between Matt and myself the evening will be a drum filled info fest!!
***RAFFLE + CYMBAL GIVEAWAY!***
Each person attending the clinic will get a ‘free’ raffle ticket on entry where the prize is a NEW 16″ Bosphorus Crash Cymbal!!
The SECOND cymbal give away will be one from my personal collection that I used with Goldfrapp, Siouxsie, Simple Minds & Miles Kane to name a few . . .
To win my cymbal I would simply like one of you to come up with a drummer joke that I have never ever heard before!! 🙂
There will also be some other Bosphorus goodies and give aways throughout the evening.
I will have my complete Bosphorus Cymbals collection on hand for you to try out, so you can hear why these cymbals remain the cymbal of choice for me and millions of other drummers.

I am really looking forward to the first gig of 2018 with Gary and Al, the Gary Bamford Trio!
So, come check the band in this relaxed setting and buy yourself a copy of the new album ‘God, Love and Other Myths’ – I am really proud of my drumming on this record and I feel it captured some of my finest moments on disc so far.
I am happy to playing at Bath’s main Jazz venue St. James’ Wine Vaults as part of the great Wade Edwards Trio. The soloist for this gig will be James Moreton so expect the unexpected and some cool musical twists and turns!
I always enjoy gigging with James and the last one I did with him was about 3 years ago as part of the Jazz/Fusion guitarist Alex Hutchings band.
Get there early to get a good seat, see you all there!!

I am very happy to be gigging with good friend and fellow musical traveller Innes Sibun at the Bar Brunel in Bridgewater on August the 19th. I gigged with Innes for about 15 years and made 5 or 6 albums with him & the band, and played on countless gigs & tours. It’s always a pleasure working with him and the amazing Hammond organ player Tim Blackmore, and the groovy & reliable bass of Mr. Steve Hall.
I cannot help steering the band into slightly fusiony waters from time to time even though it’s classed as a blues band, the spirit of Tony Williams ‘Lifetime’ group and Jeff Beck’s early solo albums loom large in my ‘take’ on the material. The great thing is that Innes digs these styles too so together with Tim & Steve, we go exploring strange and beautiful musical lands on some conventional blues forms.
Come along and strap yourself in for a groovy session, it starts at 6:30!!
I am delighted to be attending this amazing drum show in October, not just as a performer but also as a vintage drum enthusiast! I shall be trying extra hard not to buy anything even though I know I’m going to be sooooo tempted!! Lol
So, whether you are a collector or new to the whole vintage drum phenomenon, come along and see these amazing historical drum kits up close. I’ll be playing some choice vintage snares & kits on Saturday the 13th at 2pm, and talking about how I combine my own vintage gear with my modern DW set up.
See you there for a catch up and a beer!!
